Sustainable House Renovation in the Cairngorms - Event

Are you involved in the renovation of existing homes?
Boat of Garten - 25th April 2019

This event, organised by The Pebble Trust, Cairngorms National Park Authority and Scottish Land & Estates, is aimed at everybody in the retrofit sector from private and public-sector landlords to architects, builders, surveyors and those simply interested in upgrading their own homes.

This is a critical time for this topic, as policy-makers are focussing on the improvements to our housing stock necessary to meet climate change and fuel poverty committments. If we are to make the most of this investment, it's essential that we make sure the work is done effectively.

We will feature Chris Morgan talking about his book, "Sustainable Renovation - Improving Homes for Energy, Health and Environment". Chris is a director of John Gilbert Architects, and has drawn heavily on his experience of Building Performance Evaluation to highlight some of the key reasons why much retrofit work to date has failed to meet expectations. Chris is a Certified Pasivhaus Designer, a former chair of the Scottish Ecological Design Association and one of four architects in Scotland accredited to "Advanced" level in Sustainable Design.

Other speakers will represent The Cairngorms National Park Authority's Planning Department, Scottish Land & Estates and The Pebble Trust, the three organisations co-hosting the event.
